I will never forget her beautiful big fluffy paws. The way she would put her paw out and clutch on to your hand to hold.

I wanted to create a pet tribute fund in memory of Mya so that as many dogs as possible can have the chance to find their forever home. Mya came to us when she was about 4 or 5 years old and we had her for 5 years. She had been passed around when young and we were told we were her 4th owner. She was a strong girl and could be fierce but was a loving friend to us and she settled really quickly with our other dog Buster a ex racing greyhound. Together they were fantastic. When Buster had to be put down 3 years ago Mya continued to be our great protector. Sadly she had an inoperable tumour and about 3 months ago they gave her a week to live. She continued to be her strong self and lived a further 9 weeks till she went quickly downhill. We had to let her go so that she wouldn’t suffer. We miss her presence everyday. We are happy that for 5 years she had the best life we could provide and she was always there to greet us everyday. She won’t ever be forgotten and I would like to raise awareness that big dogs can be so amazing and that with determination you can have the best friend ever. Commit to your pet and make sure they’re part of the family. You will get so much love back in return. I hope that people don’t give up on their pets but if something happens to the owner, then helping to raise some funds for Battersea to rehome them to a loving family again would be amazing.
