Augusta (“Gus”) was (likely) born in the Philadelphia area and, at some point, decided to take up residence with a family in Lower Merion, by crawling through their basement window. Unable to keep her, the family gave Gus to their nanny, Joe’s ex-girlfriend, Nicole. She lived the college lifestyle with Nicole and Joe, followed by a few years in Manayunk with single-dad Joe, then down to North Carolina where she gained her three sisters (Ilsa, Nicki, and Allie), and finally across the Atlantic Ocean to her last home in the UK.

Gus brought us years of joy, love, and comfort. She was the coolest laid-back cat who had a way of putting everything into perspective with a simple glance. A cuddling pro, Gus was always able to find the ideal cuddle spots and put herself in a zen-like trance for some serious meditation and deep dreaming. She was fearless and self-assured, an inspiring presence with her tranquil confidence. She loved water and spa treatments, baths and catnip. Gus actively sought peace in every moment of her life, and she brought that peace to us on even the toughest of days.

In the last six months of her life, Gus struggled with many medical issues but never lost her spirit. She was the bravest girl throughout her countless visits to the vet and always a pleasant patient during her daily medical treatments at home. She was happy, comfortable, and loved until the end. On the evening of Monday, the 5th of December, 2016, she enjoyed a warm bath and was swaddled in a towel on our laps when she died peacefully on her own terms, in the arms of the people who loved her most.
